Happy 1st Birthday Sweet Caden Bug! You have made this year so memorable, and so fun! It is amazing how fast a year goes, and how fast you are growing up! You are quite fast, and are a walking machine. We Love that you still hold your arms out for balance, and the smile on your face is priceless. Your Big Brother Cole is so proud of you too, and you two make quite a team. You guys are really having fun playing together, it is so fun for us to watch you two laughing and smiling together.
We Love you so very much, and are looking forward to many more special birthday's to come!
Valentine's Day was extra special this year, because we have added a Caden Bug to our plans. We had a great day, and all the Svendsen boys enjoyed their Valentine's day presents. I am super excited for Jamin to use the new pasta maker, as he has wanted to make homemade pasta forever. I love my new jacket, and Cole bought me a flower and rehearsed how to ring the doorbell and say" Happy Valentine's Day!" So sweet!
I know, it is more than crazy that my oldest son is almost 3 and has never been overnight ANYWHERE! I will have to say that it would have happened sooner if we didnt live with my mom for so long. I am a bit over protective, and finally knew it was time. Cole called Gaga and asked if he could pack a suitcase and spend the night, of course she said yes. They had the best time, and Cole came home with yet another fun playdough machine! :) Yay, for Mommy, I Love playdough! (SARCASM!)
It has almost been one year since our Little Caden bug was born, and it has flown by. He has grown up so much in the last 2 weeks. He is getting to be more verbal, and has the cutest and sneakiest personality. He knows when he is getting into trouble, and can scurry away in a hurry.
We continue to Love our new home, and are working on looking for preschools for Cole. We visited one, and it was not what we are looking for. We looked at ones with his age group of kids and what they were working on, then visited the upstairs of the school where the pre-kinders were, and they were more up to Cole's speed.
So hard that I deal with parents daily believing their kids are genius' but never did I think that we would have one who truly is amazingly bright. What can I say, Jamin likes to learn and read.....has to be HIM! We want him in a learning preschool, but to have fun at the same time. He is just a little boy! I am sure we will find something, and I was planning to ask some of the neighbors where they go.
Life has been busy lately, but we are having the best time with our busy little boys!
We have been waiting for our niece Emma to arrive, and we thought it was going to be at the end of February, but she decided to make her presence earlier! She was born on Monday the 8th at 7:55 pm. We couldn't be happier, and Love her more. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces, and was 18 inches long. She has a beautiful and precious face. Cole can hardly wait to meet her, and Caden will be excited once he is aware of his new friend. We can't wait to watch her grow up, and it is so fun that we can all raise the cousins together! Mark, Helen, and Emma, we Love you and are so happy for you!

Caden Loves Kisses!
Today’s unseasonably warm weather makes it feel like the boys’ birthdays are already upon us but we’re still in the depths of winter, gracias El NiƱo.Nevertheless, Caden is just a skosh past a fortnight away from turning one, and has really expedited his growth in the past couple weeks. His character is really starting to congeal into a curious, lovable and yet sometimes mischievous little brut.Even though he talks with his Dad though a cacophony of grunts, this caveman is still a Momma’s boy.I swear he can smell her coming and when she leaves upstairs he can locate her with a round of high pitch grunts from downstairs that has to be a new dolphin-like sonar genetic mutation. He recently learned to raise his hands over his head after we say, “How big is Caden? So big.”So now his favorite two tricks are clapping and raising his hands after Mommy or Daddy walks in the door; so adorable.Yet most exciting is his new sense of balance and ever expanding consecutive steps. His early hesitation to fail has quickly heeded to a new demeanor of confidence and adventurism: two characteristics that Cole, on the other hand, has always displayed.
Cole continues to display chutzpah, complemented with genuine humility and a maturity beyond his years.Just tonight, he could be heard randomly singing, “ella, ella, ella, eh eh, ella, ella,” straight from the Rihanna song, “Umbrella.”I can directly relate to his sense of humor by revisiting when I used to respond with “woof, woof,” when my mom asked me what a cat says. One just needs to take a look at his gallery of Mii’s on his new Nintendo Wii, to grasp this kid’s humor. It’s a virtual mad science laboratory of family avatars, with a plethora of humorously mismatched hair styles, physiques and nose shapes, just to name a few.Cole is extremely excited to go to Disneyland in a couple of months for his third birthday, even though he has no idea what it is.All he knows is that Mickey and friends are there and that’s good enough for him.He again displayed the keenness of his memory today by telling us we were about to buy “huevos” at the store after Kelly taught him the week prior what the word for eggs was in Spanish. He’s a sharp kid and very loving, even with his younger brother, except when Caden is aspiring to be Cole and tries to play with the same toys, which doesn’t settle well with Cole.
It continues to be a sheer pleasure experiencing both boys’ daily milestones and hilarious quarks.
This past weekend was quite eventful, and we were so excited that Auntie Kelly was up from California to share the fun. We have been anxiously waiting for this potty training thing to take off, and we started right before Cole was two, and then Caden was born, and Cole lost the desire to go in the potty all the time. We were all patient, and finally Cole told us he was ready, and it literally happened over night. I always knew he could do it. He is a bright kid, and we are so proud of him.
Our little Bug took his first steps too. (I told ya it was a busy weekend!) He is also becoming more verbal, and has MANY funny sounds. His new favorite is "So Big," and he is so happy when he does it with his hands in the air. My boys couldn't be more different. Cole was always early with everything, crawling, walking, talking and singing, but always had the mentality to GO ,GO, GO! My Caden Bug is SO laid back, and loves to snuggle, is a Momma's boy, and is content just hangin' out. I Love each of their personalities, and they are so sweet together.
Latest W/ Cole:
He called me at work today, and at first I was worried when my phone rings at school, not at the usual call time. (It's a Mom thing!) He used my mom's phone and apparently got on the laptop at home and was trying to print color sheets off the internet. He realized we were out of ink, and this was a HUGE deal. He called me at work to tell me the massive problem. "We need ink. I need to print out my Einstein pictures." My mom then got on the phone, and we were laughing. He is such a big boy! I love how the kid can navigate his way through technology.
Latest W/ Bug:
"So Big," and Taking steps. More sounds besides Momma and Dadda. Playing with whatever brother is, and gives the best kisses!
Our good friends Wes and Marie just welcomed their new baby girl on the 18th! She weighed 9 lbs 1 ounce, and is 21.5 long. She has the cutest cheeks, and her and Caden are going to be great cheeker pals! I will post pics as soon as I can, because I cant wait to meet this little peanut! They are going to be fabulous parents, and it will so fun watching her grow up. Guess we have to play dolls and have tea parties at their house, since it all sports and legos at mine! :)
We still can't believe that a year has almost gone by. Caden you are getting so big, and we just love you to pieces. You are so mellow, unless you want attention from your Mommy, and of course that is all of the time. You are such a snuggler, and you give the best loves. You are so content with walking with someone's hand, and you easily chicken out when we let go. We are really in no hurry either for you to be running around! You are quite sneaky, and can find trouble pretty fast. You LOVE the dishwasher, especially when it is open! We love how you are playing with toys by yourself, and want to be just like brother, and play all of his big boy games. Your smile is so sweet, and your cheeks always kissable.
